In 2005 Cannabis was reclassified as a class C drug in the UK. This caused a lot of debate about whether this move would encourage more teenagers to smoke marijuana. This book provided information about the drug itself but did not take any political stand.
It explored the idea of re-classification by using systems of
classification: periodic table (element abbreviations that matched postal codes described the cost of cannabis in that area. E.g. Co (cobalt) became Colchester, £90.89), colour wheel (the three classifications of drugs A, B and C replaced Red, Yellow and Blue), film board classification (how the law differentiates between under and over 18’s) and the Dewey Decimal System (library books on the cannabis available at Kent). |
