This personal book was inspired by a journey taken in the summer between Los Angeles and Bangalore with a stop over in London.
Unfortunately due to bad weather the flight was delayed for eight hours resulting in a missed connecting flight. After four days, ten stops and countless hours of waiting in yet another airport (without a shower), the journey finally terminated in Bangalore. The luggage was still in transit (typical!).
There was a sameness of the airports across three countries: impersonal service, never ending queues, endless announcements and constant security checks (retina and full body scan included). The solitude experienced in various airports highlighted this alienation, de-humanisation and production line treatment of people at the airport. |
